This a montage of photographs taken during the Trinity Test - the first test of an atomic bomb. It was conducted by the United States on July 16, 1945, at a location 35 miles (56 km) southeast of Socorro, New Mexico: the White Sands Proving Ground, headquartered near Alamogordo. These images are in the public domain in the United States because it is a work of the United States Federal Government under the terms of Title 17, Chapter 1, Section 105 of the US Code.
