The Ghys-Herman surgery transforms a Blaschke fraction B into a quadratic polynomial P. The arrow represents a quasiconformal map that conjugates the fraction to the polynomial, provided one removes the yellow regions. These regions are respectively the unit disk and the Siegel disk of P. The quasiconformal map sends some depicted subset of the Julia set of B, to the depicted Julia set of P.
